Reception

Reception is getting in the Christmas spirit! (10 images)

Reception is getting in the Christmas spirit! We had a special visit from the cookery company, Chartwells and met a lady called Karen. She gave us lots of different biscuits to ice and decorate. We decorated our Christmas biscuits and enjoyed adding different toppings on each one. We had one for our snack and brought the rest home!

This week Reception learnt all about the Hindu festival Diwali: the Festival of Light! We learnt the story of Rama and Sita and explored different ways to retell the story. We made Diva Pots out of clay and used tools to decorate our own patterns.

Autumn Harvest 2018 (15 images)

As part of our topic this term we have been celebrating Harvest, Apple Week and the seasonal change during autumn. We have been on Wellie Walks to investigate the changes we can see and have collected a range of different items that we found. We have explored a range of vegetables and looked at where they come from and how they grow. Reception children also brought in a vegetable from home to help make vegetable soup. We followed steps to success to make our own bread. It was very yummy! We encouraged children to develop their physical control and their understanding of handling tools safely as they have carried our experiments and helped to prepare and cook their own food.
